Accordinǥ tσ federal ȿtatistics, six engineers who signed the govȩrnment’s restoratįon lease have begun or finished repairing less than 30 % oƒ the properties they are in charge oƒ ƒixing.

As of the end of July, Construction News ‘ analysis of the most recent Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government ( MHCLG ) developer-led remediation data revealed that the six developers had already begun remediation on only 162 of the 690 buildings in their portfolios that had been identified as having life-critical fire safety defects.

More than 30 % of the properties that the group is responsible for correcting have not yet been remediated, with just 28 % of the important work being completed by Barratt Redrow, the business with the highest amount of unstarted remediations.

Canary Wharf Group, Telford Homes, SevenCapital, Dandara Living Holdings, Brighton STM Group ( previously St Modwen Group Holding Company ), and Barratt Redrow are the organizations represented by.

According to the 53 developers who signed up for the contract, Barratt Redrow, a big housebuilder, has yet to start building on 392 structures.

541 of the 822 structures it is directly concerned for measuring and, if necessary, remediating, have been determined to involve fire safety functions. Its start-to-finish charge, which measures how many properties are in need of restoration work, is 28 %.

Barratt Redrow’s spokesperson told CN that the company is” committed to moving restoration works as quickly and safely as achievable”

The spokesperson stated that the UK’s largest homebuilder has the largest cleanup investment in the sector.

” Assessments should be peer-reviewed to assure they are strong, while improvement may also be impacted by the insufficient number of licensed fire engineers, seasoned cladding contractors, and delays involving handling agents/freeholders,” according to the governing body.

We are always looking for ways to make our portfolio’s examination and restoration process easier.

The second-highest range of unstarted remediations in this group are at Telford Homes in London, with 96 of the 103 houses in its collection still requiring restoration.

Its start-to-finish rate is 7 %, which is the lowest since Canary Wharf Group, which has not yet begun remediation on the two buildings in its portfolio that have been identified as requiring repairs.

Start-to-completion rates for Brighton STM Group Holding Company, Dandara Living, and SevenCapital, respectively, are 11 and 16 percent, respectively.

According to CN, one of the buildings being remediated by Brighton STM Group Holding Company is currently being assessed as not being in progress by the government’s building remediation dashboard.

The remaining four buildings in its portfolio, which are undergoing remediation, are reportedly part of the same development and are awaiting Gateway 2 approval after submitting an application in April.

For comment, Telford Homes, SevenCapital, Telford Homes, and Dandara Living Holdings, Canary Wharf Group, and SevenCapital, were all contacted.

At the end of July, five developers with individually published figures had completed a 15-building construction project at the end of July.

In 2023, the government signed a legally binding developer remediation contract. It requires businesses to fix life-critical fire safety problems in residential structures built between 1992 and 2022 that were developed or refurbished in England between that date.

Although the contract calls for” as soon as reasonably practicable” repairs, there is no fixed deadline for building completion.

In December 2024, the government released a joint plan to speed up developer-led remediation in response to the lack of progress made by the scheme.

In addition to the six developers whose names are included in the above analysis, 39 businesses signed up to it overall.

Only seven of the 39 had reported beginning or finishing construction on at least 80 % of their buildings by the end of July 2026, according to the report.

Developers can ƀe exeɱpt from the target fσr buildings where the government accepƫs evidence that woɾk could not begin due ƫo circumstances beyond thȩir conƫrol under the plan.

The BSR’s processing of building control and cladding remediation applications has been blamed on bottlenecks by developers for the delays.

Bყ the end of September, only 40 % σf ƫhe 4,732 residential buildings measuring 11 meters or taller in EngIand had finished ƀeing reρaired.

In July 2026, the government’s cladding remediation program was downgraded from an amber to a red rating, citing the “adventure appears unachievable. “
