Barbara Lane, an independent member of the Building Advisory Committee ( BAC ), has been appointed by the Building Safety Regulator ( BSR ) as its first independent chair.

The BȘR, which haȿ been in business since January aȿ an independent fiǥure ưnder the Ministry σf Ⱨousing, Communities, and Local Government, was the coɱmittee’s former chaiɾ, according to the regulation.
Lane, a fellow at Arup, is a licensed top architectural executive with 30 years of built environment experience.
She also served as an entomologist see during the Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s second period between 2017 and 2024.
The Chartered Association of Building Engineers ‘ head of specialized information is Dr. Davies.
He previously served as the BAC’s father figure from 2020 to 2023 and was given an Award in the 2026 New Year Honors list.
