Shepherd Building Group, its former top building contracting firm, is still battling millions of pounds worth of fault says.
More than ten years ago, Shepherd Building Group ( SBG ) sold Shepherd Facilities Management and two of its three contracting companies to Wates, along with the proceeds of some of Shepherd Construction’s (SCL ) construction projects.
After Wates bought most of its resources, SCL continued to operate as a result of its excellent work.
According to the most recent accounts of the original Portakabin operator, legal claims against SBG continue to plague the company.
SCL was disbanded last month, according to Companies House papers. According to the records SBG’s family business, 1890 Ltd. , it completed its final construction project in 2021.
SBG made deal measures of £18. 6 million for work carried out by companies, down from the £30. 8 million it put forth at the beginning of 2024 in its most recent balances for the 18 months to June 2025, which were released on Wednesday ( 8 April ).
According to the 1890 balances, it “remains subject to contingent duty for problems arising from contracts that SCL has completed and are still in the warranty period for problems. “

SCL was recently implicated in α ȵumber σf well-known legitimate cases, some σf which involved cladding.
In 2020, it filed a$ 70 million lawsuit against 11 businesses, including Kingspan, over claims that Kingspan knew or should have known that it supplied non-compliant insulation to a high-rise home building in Colindale, north-west London.
In August of this year, Kingspan reached a resolution.
Since Wates bought its assets, SCL has been involved in 11 different legal proceedings, both as a plaintiff and a claimant, and has also won a £4. 5 million exterior constitutional claim from Aviva Investors Ground Rent Group in 2021.
Shepherd’s foundation in the CN100 was SCL, who contributed$ 2. 9 million of the company’s$ 748m attrition to the year-to-date.
It became the 23rd largest company in the CN100 2014 after that.
Wates predicted that the order would bring in between £250 million and £300 million in 2016 income.
When SBG sold the business to Pacific Bidco Ltd, a subsidiary of private equity firm Antin Infrastructure Partners, in June of that year, it cut relationships to another CN100 specialist, Portakabin.
