Nazar, an engaging film game, has made its debut as a 2D platformer for Steam that combines ancient Greek history and science fiction.
Set in a beautiful and fairy-like panorama of Cappadocia, the sci-fi sport combines full-motion videos and and platforming game, said Eray Dinç and Simay Dinç, a brother-and-sister team, in an interview with GamesBeat.
” This is a global game, primarily in English but also localized for 10 languages”, Eray Dinç said. We rewrite traditional customs and tinker with scientific fiction. It is rooted in Middle East/North Africa ( MENA ) culture, but it’s super global”.
The Dinç sisters, who were the creators of the full-motion wireless sport series Recontact, have a lot of knowledge in international mobile game development. They have been working on their fresh science fiction activity for about 2.5 times, then, with the help of musician Inon Zur and a smaller group. The match is an action-adventure 2D platformer with story-driven full-motion picture. It’s currently only available on Steam for Computer devices, and it’s scheduled to launch on computers in a few months.
The players in the title must employ their parapsychological abilities and fortitude skills to understand the game mechanics. Players have a real 2D program game experience when watching a movie that is completely made of videos. In Nazar’s dreams, you can use helium transportation to get to your place while traveling through astral travel to the potential. Before your vision runs out, you must find the right way and travel to the future.
Seeing the potential
Astrology, fortune telling, dreams, ornaments — these are part of ancient rites to avoid future wicked outcomes, blending historic culture and science fiction.
The Zener accounts, created by Carl Zener in the 1930s to objectively assess parapsychological
skills, will also assess gamers ‘ parapsychological abilities. The more experienced they are overall
The more benefits the participants will have in the game the more they see the future. In the game, extrasensory
view is part of the score.
Stopping a sinister religion
In his children, the figure Nazar used his ability to predict the future as a fortune teller. He afterwards joins the Spicy Induction, an old organization in Anatolia. His leader, Mergen, trains him and makes him an
promoter. He yet forms a new squad using classical technologies to combat the Fatum cult.
which uses future-seeing powers for evil functions worldwide.
Nazar ties the fates of those who should n’t see the future to his abilities and cutting-edge technology. When Master Mergen receives reports that the leaders of the Fatum religion are gathering in Cappadocia, he has no choice but to call upon his former pupil, Nazar, to prevent this wicked business. The Spicy induction assigns Nazar an associate named Tela when he arrives in Cappadocia. But to prevent the Fatum group’s intentions, he must notice even deeper into the future.
Origins
Turkey film director, activity custom, and intellectual Eray Dinç had a creative vision for the game. For his movies and videos paintings, he has received more than 10 foreign awards.
This generation effectively combines system match and cinematic genres while being shot in 2D with the aesthetics of Greek dark plays.
” In Turkish lifestyle, there is a custom called the dark play. I use this method in the system game, where we mix the 2D platformer narrative with FMV engaging cinema”, Eray Dinç said. ” We use the Greek darkness for action, based on photography. We hope to inspire different activity designers as well.
He was even inspired by the visual design of films by Andrei Tarkofsky, like Sacrifice. Additionally, he desired to incorporate Anatolian myth into the Turkish area.
” The society provided my desire and inspiration”, he said.
Eray Dinç held the position of director of the film section at the Sadri Al-Alşk Cultural Center for four decades. Making Movies Without Money, an engaging film book, was published by Eray Dinç in 2014. Recontact Games, which combines film and video game into a new skill form through pioneer solutions, is cofounded by him and his sister Simay Dinç.
Their first match, Recontact Istanbul, won” The Best Match Award by App Store”. The game won the Los Angeles New Media Film Festival’s Best App award for its improvement of picture art to the Pera Museum in addition to its other works.
Eray Dinç’s second video game, Eyes of Sky, debuted on platforms as the world’s first cinematographic game and won international awards such as IMGA San Francisco. Dinç is also the co-founder of Kıraarthane, a social impact project providing free new media art design education to village children. He serves as an adjunct professor at Beykent University and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
Eray encouraged his university students to create the game Nazar. Nazar’s Unity development was carried out by Eray Dinç’s students from Istanbul Beykent University’s digital game design department, where he is the department’s founder and dean. He served as producer, game designer, director, script writer, director of photography, and post production and sound.
Game development challenges
Eray Dinç said that blending interactive cinema with a 2D platform game was one of the biggest challenges, as the team had to manage three distinct production aspects: filmmaking, game development, and the complex phase of combining the two.
Additionally, the actor portraying Nazar ran over 50 kilometers on Cappadocia’s rugged slopes, which the team used as the game’s platform, overcoming many obstacles and even risking injury.
Beyond traditional multiple-choice mechanics, FMV integration into game dynamics presented a unique technological challenge, as video processing capabilities are frequently lacking in game engines. To address this, the team undertook a dedicated R&, D project, which became the most demanding process for our software team, Eray Dinç said.
Working with a game composer like Inon Zur was also personally challenging. Eray Dinç had to communicate his vision precisely, and while it was difficult to request revisions, Zur worked back and forth to with Eray Dinç to bring the vision to life. Eray Dinç believes the result is an industry first in terms of combining cinema with 2D platforming elements like puzzles, boss fights, resource management and a rogue-like structure. Simay Dinç served as head of international partnerships.
Turkish mythology
The game incorporates many elements from Turkish mythology. Most importantly, it is based on the rituals of preventing the region’s geography from the bad future and the differences between the eastern and western perspectives on these issues, Eray Dinç said.
Nazar is the main character’s name. In Turkish, it means the “evil eye that brings accidents and trouble”. His goal is to get rid of those who use their clairvoyant skills to carry out evil plans all over the world.
Cappadocia is a historic city in Turkey that is well known for its hot air balloon tourism. The video was shot there, and there was an original soundtrack created by the team.
The team had Unity developers. However, with the addition of the team responsible for quality control and other artists, 60 people total were involved in the project.
Nazar will be released under the name Eray Dinç Studio, a division of Recontact Games.
Eray Dinç, the head of the department at Istanbul Beykent University, said,” The most important reason for this is that we conducted this process with my specially trained students in digital game design. ” My students are completely in charge of the unity development and QA team. In the education system, if a student is not working on a real game project, it means that they are not ready for the industry. That’s why I put these students in my studio under one roof, and Nazar was the first project I created with the students I trained with academic assistance for four years.
Recontact Games ‘ trilogy of Recontact Istanbul, Eyes of Sky and Recontact: London reach more than a million gamers in 153 countries.
