A £60 million intermediate class in Cardiff has been built by Morgan Sindall.

The UK’s second-largest company has now carried out enabling functions at the Willows High School page on Lewis Road in Splott, to the south of Cardiff’s town center.

However, the company has now been preoccupied with the major construction projects, which will include the development of a new college campus for 900 students between the ages of 11 and 16 as well as a Special Resource Base for 30 Senator students.

The school campus, which will remove the existing Willows High School center, will have teaching and learning areas, a sports hall, drama theater and vegetation pitches as well as “enhanced commuter facilities”.

Cardiff City Council supports the project, and it was granted planning authority in May. In day for the 2026/27 class time, structure is anticipated to be finished.

Enabled works included the demolition of existing structures on the site, the installation of utilities, the transfer of existing services, construction and ground works, as well as the construction of boundary fencing.

Rob Williams, place director at Morgan Sindall Construction, said:” Having provided top-tier education facilities across Wales, we have seen first how much the spaces in which children learn have a huge impact on their learning, and this state-of-the-art building may certainly be a wonderful environment for children to live after built”.

According to Sarah Merry, vice president of Cardiff Council and representative for education,” This represents substantial investment in the local area, and the entire group will benefit from the improved services at the new school, including the public-use sports pitches.”
