According to the report, construction fleets are particularly vulnerable to severe events, with severe crashes up 32 % and severe crashes up 31 %, most likely as a result of on- and off-road operation in crowded or cramped job sites. Over the course of 30 months, crashes decreased by almost half the regular progress across all fleets by using Samsara’s complete AI safety set, which includes dual-facing dash cams, in-cab alerts, and driver coaching.
Due to real-time awareness and pilot input, fleets with dual-facing cameras experienced more than double the accident reduction of front-facing cameras alone. Within the first six months, fleets with 175 or more vehicles reported a 49 % reduction in harsh events and an 84 % reduction in mobile device use, which increased to 69 % and 96 % after 30 months.
Stronger conformity was moreover correlated with increased protection. After 30 months, CSA scores for large fleets improved, with 43 % more safe driving, 57 % more hours of service compliance, and 83 % more controlled substances/alcohol scores.
